Rev Up Reading is a literacy program primarily designed to improve the literacy skills of recluctant readers English language learners. Rev Up Reading comprises sets of high-interest, low-readability, levelled fact and fiction cards. Students work independently with these cards to increase fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing and research skills.

Each card is divided into three passages of 100-120 words. Students reread the passages to increase reading rate and plot their progress on a fluency graph.  Students then complete the follow-up activities in the student workbook provided. Evidence from these provides both formative and summative assessment.
