Rev Up Poetry is a new English resource for teaching poetry in Years 1 - 3 or as an intervention for older priority learners. The programme comprises 15 poems with a lesson plan for each one. The poems cover a range of social studies and science topics.

Each poem is presented on a card that provides for further exploration in
comprehension, vocabulary, research and writing.

Rev Up Poetry provides a six-experience teaching sequence for each poem. This format addresses the text complexity of poetry while providing ideas that will help your students enjoy reading, analysing, and creating their own poetry. Reading aloud, close reading, and interactive writing provide the instructional scaffolds that gradually release the task to the students enabling them to create independently and write their own poems.
